Project Overview
Lockheed Martin contracted P2S to serve as prime consultant to provide MEP and structural engineering services for the replacement of a 350-ton air-cooled chiller package at their Goleta, CA facility. During the project, our team conducted a feasibility study to better understand the chilled water demands within the building, develop a chilled water piping plan, conduct a field survey of equipment loads, provide a PipeFlo hydraulic model of the existing system and deliver a report showing the building cooling load and recommendations for the chilled water plant sizing.

Solution
After the feasibility study further specified the necessary scope of the project, our team continued with the work of designing a replacement for the 350-ton air-cooled chiller. The replacement had similar design conditions as the original and can easily interface with the existing Systecon controls. We also designed outdoor lighting and power outlets in the air-cooled chiller yard. P2S also coordinated with our structural engineering subconsultant, Brandow Johnston, to ensure that the chiller was properly anchored in its concrete pod.
