Project Overview
Cal Poly Pomona’s new, LEED Gold Certified Bronco Recreation and Intramural Complex is a $43.8 million sustainable milestone. The 3-story, 165,000 SF facility offers students a wealth of fitness and recreation opportunities, while reducing the school’s environmental impact. Cal Poly turned to our commissioning team to conduct a thorough review of the building’s MEP systems to make sure all systems were performing as required.

Solution
Our goal was to have the air and water systems operating as efficiently as possible while maintaining high functionality. We did this with thorough testing of sequence of operations for each piece of equipment. We also verified systems based on expertise and persisted in obtaining assistance from contractors to get work finished and working properly. We pursued outstanding warranty period issues, especially on setting up the heating hot water system and making sure it operated reliably without tripping. We also monitored building systems well into the warranty period to ensure they maintained proper, efficient operation.
