P2S played a central role in developing the UCR School of Medicine Education Building II, showcasing how collaboration and innovative engineering can expand educational capacity. Our adaptable, energy-efficient solutions enhance the learning experience and support the future of healthcare by addressing evolving educational needs.
In collaboration, we developed a 95,478-square-foot, five-story facility accommodating 125 additional students per classroom. This partnership enabled us to navigate complex challenges and create a building that meets today’s demands while remaining flexible for future growth.
Maximizing Sustainable Growth with Dynamic HVAC Solutions
Modular air handling units (AHUs) were strategically implemented to deliver airflow solutions, ensuring continuous operation and reducing maintenance downtime—crucial for maintaining a comfortable learning environment.
Additionally, a heat recovery chiller plant was designed to boost sustainability by repurposing energy from chilled water byproducts, enhancing efficiency throughout the building.
These innovations contribute significantly to achieving LEED Platinum certification and strengthening overall energy resilience.
Overcoming Electrical Infrastructure Challenges to Power a Growing Medical School
Our team provided standard and emergency power, site lighting, and lighting controls.
The project required relocating a substation from the existing medium-voltage electrical yard to an adjacent emergency generator yard, which required a detailed phasing plan to minimize campus impacts.
Despite these challenges, our team's resilience and ingenuity ensured the successful delivery of quality solutions to support the growing medical school.
