Project Overview
With Long Beach Community Hospital currently re-opening, P2S is helping to restore healthcare to the community right in our Long Beach office’s backyard, with a direct impact on many of our employees. We're providing MEPT and fire protection design and engineering services for the historic hospital's SPC/NPC Seismic Upgrade and Acute Care Renovation project. The project includes a new Central Utility Plant, infrastructure reconnection to compliant hospital buildings and related renovation of approximately 80,000 SF of existing hospital.

Solution
The overall project is complex in nature with many phases, existing site constraints, and the challenge of maintaining hospital operations while performing a significant retrofit to the existing utility systems. Another unique factor for this project is the campus' proximity to an active earthquake fault which produces challenges between various jurisdictions that govern hospital operations and the specific engineering challenges of utility systems that need to continue functioning in the event of an earthquake.
