Energy audit improves library efficiency and uncovers savings
-
Project Overview
UCLA needed energy consultants to help with a comprehensive inventory, assessment, and analysis of the Powell Library’s energy and water usage. Our energy team rose to the challenge, assisting UCLA with a variety of energy assessments as part of an ASHRAE Level II Energy Audit. This type of audit includes detailed energy calculations and financial analysis of proposed energy efficiency measures. We considered occupant influences and made energy project recommendations to reduce annual energy and water costs by at least 15%.

Project Overview
Our analysis gave UCLA a comprehensive understanding of the financial benefits of implementing specific energy efficiency measures (ECMs). We evaluated the library's energy usage profile, addressing comfort issues, HVAC systems, lighting systems, plug loads, process loads, water use, building envelop and occupant behavior. Our energy team gave the university detailed financial analysis for conservation measures based on implementation cost estimates and site-specific operating cost savings.
